Next time itís vertical
At a large eastern German chemistry plant last year various steel and stainless steel pipelines with an internal diameter of 150 and 600 mm were visually inspected and the current wall thickness of the pipes determined. The plant produces intermediate products made of plastic.
What was special about this deployment was that the pipes were vertical over their entire length of up to 45 metres and could only be traversed from the bottom to the top.
During this "upright" task the Inspector Systems pipe robots proved to be very good climbers and coped well with difficult demands placed on them. In spite of the inside of the pipe being soiled in parts, the robots managed to complete the entire vertical journey and provide informative and meaningful test results.
